We would love to hear from you! A little history on myself.....First, I never thought that I would be mass producing dog litter boxes! I am a registered nurse, B.S.N. and I also hold a Master's Degree in Education. My beloved pug Rascal had passed away at the age of 14.5 yrs. I adopted a new pug that I named Violet. I knew that I wanted to litter box train her since I would worked 12 hour shifts and I would not be able to attend to Violet's toilet needs. I was tired of purchasing expensive and messy "pee pee" pads and costly dog litter was just play material for her. I had purchased a "tray type" unit litter pan on the Internet with just a grid for her to stand on to eliminate. I was SO DISAPPOINTED when the product arrived! My puppy Violet attempted to use the flat tray unit, but half of the time her back end would hang over the edge of the one inch "tray" and I was sill coming home to a mess! I quickly realized that if Violet had been a male dog that the problem would only be worse! There was not depth or sides to contain the mess. I knew that I had never seen a cat litter box without sides! I realized that other dog owners had the same need. I believed that there had to be a better box I just knew that there had to be changes in the "tray" that I had purchased. I also realized that not only did I have the need for a cost effective, functional and durable litter management system for my puppy, but that other dog owners also realized that not only did I have the need for a cost effective, functional had the same need. I believed that there had to be a better box somewhere that would confine the mess! Easier said than done. That is why I developed the Rascal Dog Litter Box. I wanted to create a box that was appealing to the dog. I searched for a realistic and soft grass that would be placed in the litter box. I wanted a product that would contain the urine and also be soft on Violet's paw pads. As a dog owner for most of my life, I am deeply saddened by the number of dogs that are turned into shelters each year because they were not properly housebroken. Pet owner place UNREALISTIC demands on their dog or puppy. Most humans can not hold "it" for 8 - 12 hours. Why would anyone place this expectation on their pet? I applied for patents to secure my ideas. I then sold several Rascal Dog Litter Boxes to my friends and nurse colleagues. I have not looked back since. Now I know when I leave my house for hours, that my little dogs will be not have to wait anxiously for my return nor do I come home to puddles and piles. Thank you! Tricia Tierney |
